  • New York State Bar Association's Commercial and Federal Litigation Section

    On 16 Apr 2013, the Ethics Committee of the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the NY State Bar Association published a report highlighting the ethical and legal obligations for New York litigators when engaging in third party litigation finance arrangements.   • American Bar Association Commission on Ethics 20/20

    On 19 Oct 2011, a working group of the ABA Commission on Ethics 20/20 published their conclusions after studying the legal ethics issues arising from lawyers' involvement in alternative litigation financing by individuals and entities other than parties to the action, their respective lawyers or insurers.   • New York City Bar Association's Committee on Professional Ethics

    On 15 Jun 2011, the NYC Bar Association's Committee on Professional Ethics published a Formal Opinion stating that "It is not unethical per se for a lawyer to represent a client who enters into a non-recourse litigation financing arrangement with a third party lender".   • The Association of Litigation Funders of England and Wales

    In Nov 2011, the ALF, of which ClaimTrading is a broker member, issued the first Code of Conduct for Litigation Funders, setting out standards of practice and behaviour to be observed by funders who are members of the association. Click here for the full text of the code.

  • The Jackson Report

    In Dec 2009, the Right Honourable Lord Justice Jackson produced his final report on the Review of Civil Litigation Costs, in which he proposes a package of interlocking reforms, designed to control costs and promote access to justice.
